Ryan Williams introduced himself to Morecambe fans in spectacular fashion last Saturday.

After months of waiting to get his international clearance he finally made his debut and what a way to announce yourself on the league stage.

The way he strikes the ball is very similar to one Cristiano Ronaldo and the dip and swerve he got on his strike was brilliant.

He deserves an awful amount of credit because he has been travelling from Liverpool to train with us for months all at his own expense just waiting for his chance.

He certainly went some way to taking it on Saturday and hopefully there will be more of the same from him in the weeks and months ahead.

Free entry to a Football League match must be the first offer of its kind and I have to admit I was a bit sceptical when I first heard about it.

It was definitely a big gamble by the club but those who made the trip to the game against Dagenham could clearly see it was a gamble that very much paid off.

Seeing more than four thousand fans packed inside the Globe on a cold, wet Tuesday night (and a school night too) was really pleasing.

A lot of people seemed to make a night of it as the bar downstairs was full long after the game finished I’ve been told.

The atmosphere in the ground was absolutely brilliant and I’d like to think it was a good game to watch as well.

There were plenty of chances at both ends of the pitch and the conditions made for some tenacious tackling too.

I just hope that the first-timers enjoyed it enough to make the match-day visit a more regular thing.

Since the game a few people have messaged me on Twitter to say they enjoyed it so much that they were considering buying season tickets.

I maybe told them a little white lie by saying every game is always that exciting!
