The Shrimps welcome league leaders Burton Albion to the Globe Arena this Saturday following a defeat away to strugglers York on Tuesday.

Morecambe currently sit 12th in the table but have a good record against the top seven teams this season.

Jim Bentley’s side defeated promotion favourites Albion 2-0 in October and Parrish thinks they can do the double over the Brewers, who could go up on Saturday with a win if other results go their way.

He said: “Burton are top of the league for a reason.

“They’re doing very well and are looking for promotion on Saturday.

“We tend to play well against better opposition.

“Like the gaffer said we’ve beaten all the teams who are up there and with it being another big game on Saturday I think we can get the win.”

Prior to Tuesday’s defeat the Shrimps have been in good form going unbeaten in five, a run that saw them defeat another promotion-chasing side, fourth-placed Bury 2-1 away from home.

Parrish, a former Shakers player, is confident Morecambe can move quickly on from Tuesday however.

The 26-year-old said: “Bury was another massive game and it shows what we’re capable of.

“It’s frustrating to loose to York who are in a lower position than us.

“We played best in the first half and conceded from a corner which is disappointing.

“We should be going there and getting three points but it won’t affect the momentum of the team at all.”

Morecambe now look set to miss out on the play-offs sitting eight points behind seventh-placed Plymouth with just three games left to play.

Despite this Parrish says there are still plenty of things left to play for.

He said: “The gaffer sets us targets and the main aim is to finish with a positive goal difference.

“We’ve got more points than last season and want to finish as high as possible.

“There is also good competition for top scorer.”
