Alex Kenyon's Plymouth red card rescinded after appeal
Alex Kenyon's red card against Plymouth has been rescinded after a successful Morecambe appeal.
The Shrimps midfielder was sent off just before half-time in the 2-0 defeat on Good Friday for what appeared to be a firm but fair challenge on Carl McHugh.
Referee David Webb disagreed and brandished a red card leaving JIm Bentley’s side playing more than half the game with 10 men.
The Shrimps found out on Wednesday their appeal had been successful however and Kenyon will now not serve a three-match ban and is free to face Barnet at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
Bentley said: “‘I’m absolutely made up for Alex as the commission have backed his claim that he won the ball cleanly.
“I said on Friday that it was a well-timed challenge, we then looked at the video put our case forward and were hopeful of a positive outcome.
“We can now look forward to the home game versus Barnet this weekend with Alex available for selection.”
