There was a hard fought battle for third place but once handicap points were added up there was a four-way tie made up of youth member Jamie Whiteley in a Supernova, Dyane Silvester in a Streaker, plus Chris Braun and Phil Chandler both in Lasers.

The day also saw a strong turnout of members of the club’s youth section completing the 10 dinghy turnout.

Taking charge of things was trainee officer of the day, Dave Brookbanks, mentored by club commodore and safety boat helm, John Gibbison.

The club has also raised more than £100 with a fundraising Tea by the Sea for Sail4Cancer charity hosted by the galley team of Rosie Ryder, Sue Byers and Julie Brookbanks.

This Saturday the club will be supporting Morecambe Lifeboat’s 50th birthday event on Morecambe prom, then on the weekend of September 2 and 3 it is holding its two-day regatta which, apart from sailing, includes Saturday evening with the Sun Street Stompers traditional jazz band.
