On Saturday, the Lune Road side were in Palace Shield Premier Division action at Kendal, before taking on South Shore in the Meyler Cup on Sunday.

At Kendal, Lancaster captain Iain Perrieman won the toss and elected to bat first, but his team could only muster 90 runs before being bowled out.

Joseph Hills (7) and Steven Fisher (2) opened but did not last long, the former fell to
Toby Tyson (3-23) while the latter was run out.

Charlie Swarbrick (10) reached double figures before being bowled by Chris Miller (3-21), and Laurie Atkinson became Saeed Bariwala’s (2-21) first victim of the day, Matthew Park taking the catch.

Kieran Moffat was Lancaster’s top run scorer with 28 but he was bowled by Miller, and Faizan Khan (11) fell to Park (1-21) as the visitors struggled to make an impact.

Perrieman (1) was caught and bowled by Miller, James Davies managed just four runs before being bowled by Bariwala, while Ben Simm (8) and Lee Sparks (1) both fell to Tyson as Lancaster were all out for 90 in 43.3 overs.

Kendal had few problems reaching their target, openers Lachlan Stewart (24no) and Bariwala (39) got them off to a great start although Simm (1-13) struck to remove the latter with the help of Steven Fisher.

It made little difference to the outcome though as Stewart and Edward Price (13no) helped Kendal the 91-1 in just 32.3 overs to claim 12 points.

Lancaster were back in action on Sunday at South Shore but they were beaten once more, this time losing by 31 runs.

Lancaster captain, Luke Phillips, won the toss and decided to field first, and it looked to be a good decision as Coady Scott (2-8) struck twice early on to remove Daniel Jardine (4) and captain Ryan Adderley (1), Lee Sparks taking catches for both wickets.

Simm (2-37) also got in on the act, first getting rid of Luke Jardine (27), Liam Moffat taking the catch, and then Maqsood Burondkar (6), Kieran Moffat catching well in the field.

Amjad Mehmood was South Shore’s leading run scorer with 36, he eventually fell to Kieran Moffat (2-21), while Maz Iqbal managed a knock of 11 before being bowled by Liam Moffat (1-34).

Craig Nettleton (2) became Kieran Moffat’s second victim of the day, trapped in front as the home team finished on 158-7 from their 40 overs.

In reply, Lancaster’s openers Sandy Richards (7) and Perrieman (1) struggled to get things going, although Charlie Swarbrick (47) did accelerate the run rate at three, he just fell short of his half century when he was bowled by Mehmood (2-19). Kieran Moffat (7) was caught by Daniel Jardine off the bowling of Neil Ashford (2-23) although Simm did manage 14 before being run out.

Scott (8) failed to make double figures, Hassan Pazeer (2-36) taking the wicket with the help of Luke Jardine, and Mehmood struck again to remove Lewis McGinley for a duck. Lee Sparks reached 16 but was bowled by Maz Iqbal (1-4) and Liam Moffat could only manage six before being caught by Craig Nettleton off Pazeer as Lancaster finished on 127-9.
