Dave Chisnall aims to finish the Premier League darts season on top of the table when he battles Michael van Gerwen live on Sky Sports tonight.
The Morecambe-based ace currently lies second in the league, having already qualified for next Thursday night’s finals night at the London O2.
But a win over the world number one at the Brighton Centre will secure ‘Chizzy’ top spot after a terrific season.
Dutchman van Gerwen is bidding to finish at the top of the final league table for a third successive season, and sits one point clear of Chisnall ahead of their meeting.
Chisnall has reached the semi-finals in only his second season in the Betway Premier League thanks to a series of impressive victories and more 180s than anyone else.
“It’s going to be a fun night,” said Chisnall.
“I’ve played well this year and I’ve tried to keep up with Michael as much as possible - he’s one game ahead, probably because he beat me.
“I’m looking forward to playing him and though the pressure if off you still want to win to keep your form going into the play-offs.
“I think I can win this and a lot of people are saying that I’m playing well enough to win, but it’s not about what they say but what I do, and I’m over the moon with how I’m playing.”
The other play-off places have been secured by the World Champion Gary Anderson and reigining league champ Raymond van Barneveld.
Anderson takes on Adrian Lewis on Thursday and van Barneveld takes on Stephen Bunting.
