The date of boxing legend Nigel Benn’s upcoming fight in Morecambe has been changed to Saturday, December 1.

‘The Dark Destroyer’ is coming out of retirement to face local ex-pro Frank Harrington in a three-round contest at the Sports Hall, Lancaster and Morecambe College.

Only 10 ringside tables remain for the hottest boxing ticket in town.

Former world middle and super middleweight champion Benn, 48, is taking part in a series of exhibition bouts around the country.

The Londoner was one of the most exciting and hard punching fighters of the ‘80s and ‘90s, famed for his thrilling bouts with Chris Eubank, Iran Barkley and Michael Watson.

Money will be raised on the night for local charity The Twins Appeal.

There will be four other bouts on the bill featuring local boxers.

Marcus Duncan takes on Martin Phillips from Blackpool, hard punching Steve Douglas battles Arron Halliwell, Alex Wisdom will square off against Tony Morgan and Dave Standen duels with Danny Payne from Blackpool.

The night includes a three-course meal and entertainment from a comedian, after-dinner speech, and photos and autographs will be available with Benn.

Doors open at 6.30pm and boxing starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets priced £70 are available by calling Frank Harrington on 07789 261768.
