Roebuck and Patel do damage to Torrisholme order

Torrisholme bowed out at the quarter final stages of the Meyler Cup after losing to Penwortham.

Losing the toss, Torrisholme were asked to field and D Jackson (0) was run out by Neil Jordan.

Aspen (45) was removed by Jack Heap (1-24), caught by Parry, but this just brought Brierly (74no) to the crease.

A good spell by Dan Woods (0-38) wasn’t enough and Joe Gibbins (0-42) and Chris Parry (0-46) struggled to prevent a boundary an over.

Jackson’s figures (0-64) were obliterated when the Penwortham pair went big, the last three overs going for 12 each as Torrisholme were set 238 to win.

James Ferguson (22) and Adam Bee (22) started the chase well until Ferguson fell at 36-1.

Torrisholme took the score to 113-1 but just before drinks Hewitt (2-46) bowled Bee.

Jon Roebuck (4-34) removed Dan Woods (20) and Grahame Clarke (5) and Joe Gibbins (0) were also to fall.

Parry reached his three figures with a class cover drive,a brilliant 100 to make it 192-5.

Parry (104) was undone by Roebuck before Patel (3-27) returned to do some damage to the tail.

A cameo nine not out from Neil Jordan wasn’t enough as Torrisholme fell 15 runs short, all out for 222 in what was a great game of cricket.
