Lancaster captain wants to turn league form around in double header

Simm’s men slipped to a disappointing loss at Chorley last time out but next host Barrow on Saturday, and Kendal, on Sunday, on a busy weekend in the Northern Premier League.

Lancaster are sixth in a table topped by Morecambe with the skipper hoping his side can build some momentum ahead of hosting Twenty20 finals day on July 5.

Simm said: “We’re looking to turn our league form around.

“We’ve got a good record against Barrow at home and hopefully we can do the double over Kendal.

“We started the season thinking we could win the league and we’ve just slipped away.

“We’ve never stopped thinking we can get back up there hopefully we can back some consistency in terms of performances and selection, which has been a bit of an issue.

“Hopefully we can build up a bit of form going into the Twenty20 finals but our focus is on the league this weekend.”

The 84-run defeat to Chorley is one that the Lune Road men will want to forget in a hurry.

Simm said: “We were missing a few players but it’s the first game where we haven’t competed and haven’t looked like winning at any stage.

“There were a few things that went against us but we didn’t bat, field and bowl well enough.”

Both Saturday’s game against Barrow and Sunday’s clash with Kendal start at 1pm.
