Ferguson and Errington take control to inspire Torrisholme

A game reduced to 40 overs due to over night rain Torrisholme were in debt to two controlled innings from James Ferguson (39no) and Stuart Errington (44no) to chase down the 164 run target with five overs to spare.

Torrisholme had a disastrous day in the field and Ben Fitch (39) and Chris Brooke’s (27) made the most of their chances – it took an in swinging yorker from Matt Jackson (2-55) to find the breakthrough 54-1 in the 17th over.

Jack Heap (1-20) took the next wicket a sharp caught and bowled chance to remove Fitch but Callum Brookes (30) and Toby McGuire (28) threatened to take the game away from Torrisholme and steered the score to 124-2.

However Jeff Stobbart (3-23) and the returning Jackson ensured that wickets were taken to stop the scoring. Stobbart claiming McGuire stumped by Ben Pye and then bowling Stinson (1) in the next over.

Jackson removed Brookes and Dom Jackson (12) fell to Stobbart, caught by Jackson as Fulwood and Broughton finishes on 164-6.

In reply Andy Butler (2) crashed the ball through the covers only to not make his ground running for a third, Pete Haslam with the well directed throw.

Woods (26) and Chris Parry (32) settled things down, scoring quickly to 52-1 from 10 overs.

Chris Gunn (2-37) took the next wicket, Woods hauling out to long on. James Ferguson (39no) joined Parry and the pair took the score to 74 when Parry was trapped LBW again to 
Gunn.

Errington joined Ferguson and from ball one looked a commanding force, not letting the bowlers settle and punishing width and poor length with boundaries.

The 94 run match winning partnership was only threatened by a thunderstorm as the heavens opened as the winning run was 
taken.
