Crowther comes to rescue as Warton fight back to beat Holme

Warton produced another good performance to complete an excellent weekend with two victories.

Warton started disastrously as star batsman Ryan Nelson was cleaned bowled from the second ball of the day.

However Graeme Crowther batted cautiously with Ricky Nelson and the partnership began to flourish after a difficult first ten overs.

Crowther began to open up before holing out in the deep for an excellent 40.

Dan Dixon was next out(7) clean bowled which brought Gareth Finney to the crease and his partnership with Ricky Nelson took the game away from Holme.

Nelson passed his fifty as Finney played the anchor role initially, before Nelson top edged one to depart for an brilliant 72.

Finney then stepped up and worked the ball to all parts of the ground as his fifty came up as Warton passed 200.

Adam Dixon(19) and Stuart Mayor(16) played quick cameo innings as Finney finished on 55 runs, Warton ended on 233-8.

In reply Holme started briskly against the opening pair of Crowther and Beck but it was the introduction of Ryan Needham that was to blow away the Holme innings as he bowled with pace and aggression to take career best figures of 7-19 from 6.4 overs.

Top scorers for Holme were L Teasdale(18) and G Metcalfe 16).

Holme were bowled out for 80 as Warton move into a quarter final tie with Burneside.
