Carnforth Otter Josh takes on best in Britain at trials

Carnforth Otters' rising star Josh Thompson faced the best of Britain in Glasgow.

Just 17, Thompson competed in the British Championships and Olympic Trials, hoping to get through to the finals and achieve a qualifying time for a place on the team travelling to Rio this summer.

A finger injury two weeks before affected his times in his two breaststroke events and also forced a withdrawal from the 200 Individual Medley.

However, Josh got through to the junior final of the 50m freestyle and finished fifth in a race where all eight swimmers were separated by a finger tip.
