Fury believes Klitschko delay will work in his favour

The Morecambe giant has revealed he had been battling flu before news came thorough that Klitschko had to move their world heavyweight title clash from October 24 to November 28 after picking up a calf injury.

Fury, who announced a bid to be the resort’s MP recently, says he was unable to train for nearly 12 days.

The unbeaten former British and European champion told the Daily Mirror: “The postponement’s not been a major issue for me, the reasons being that if the fight had gone ahead on October 24, little did he know, he would probably have had a better chance against me because I was just getting over the flu.

“I was not training, I had to have 12 days off. I was totally bedridden for about seven days, I was totally knackered. I was proper laid-up, I was energyless.

“So he’s benefited us in our training camp rather than give himself the edge. Now we’re back into the full swing of training and I’ve still got six weeks left.

“He’s done us a massive favour — so thanks very much, Klitschko!”

Fury gets his shot at WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO champion Klitschko at the Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf on November 28 with the fight set to be screened live on Sky Sports Box Office.
