With Morecambe’s Commonwealth Featherweight Champion Isaac Lowe sitting at ringside with his newly-won belt, the Coastal lads from the West End Road gym were eager to impress at Saturday night’s show.

Two ‘skills’ (non-scoring) contests opened the evening, with young boxers Zane Davies and Josh Dawson in action.

The competitive bouts got under way as Alex Gilhespy battled hard against a tough opponent from Nelson, losing a unanimous decision.

Norbert Gorniak boxed stylishly behind the jab against an aggressive opponent from Liverpool, winning a deserved split verdict in one of the bouts of the night.

There was a raucous atmosphere for the next contest, as the tough and powerful Troy Gallagher took on Keton Jackson from
Manchester. After three exciting rounds Troy looked a certain winner and there was shock as the unanimous decision was given to Jackson.

Next up, Joe Craddock put in his usual 100 per cent effort against a very skilled Dewsbury opponent, losing a unanimous decision.

Simon Atherton was unable to continue in the second round of his bout, as he was bleeding badly from the nose.

The crowd-pleasing aggression of Scotty O’Connor wasn’t quite enough to best the cleaner punching of Danny Goodwin from Manchester, who won unanimously.

The last three bouts saw Coastal finish on a high. The popular Jacob Robertson won a deserved split verdict, the all-action Carl Squirrell was also a worthy unanimous points winner, and the evening ended in fine style as Dave Fox blew away his opponent by TKO with three counts in the first round.

The show was sponsored by WB Plant Hire and JK Autos.
