Hughie Dempsey Fury made it a hat-trick of professional victories in Liverpool on Saturday night.

Lancaster’s super middleweight prospect moved his record in the paid ranks to 3-0 with a points victory over the durable Harry Matthews on the VIP Promotions show at the Greenbank Sports Centre.

The 19-year-old, who had to pull out of a show in Blackpool at the end of March due to illness, won a narrow decision 39-38.

Dempsey, the cousin of Morecambe’s heavyweight hope Tyson, is now being trained by both father Hughie Snr and Bolton’s Karl Ince, who also looks after Bentham light heavyweight Tomi Tatham.

Tatham, 5-1, had an operation on a wrist injury on Tuesday and is hoping to return to the ring in the next five or six months.

His last night in November saw him taste defeat for the first time against Sheffield’s Lee Duncan.
