Athletics: Ryelands Park hosts final fixture of season

Ryelands Park hosted the final Mid Lancs Cross Country fixture of the season on Saturday.

First off were the U11 girls and eight toed the line for host club Lancaster and Morecambe.

First home was Larissa Hannam in seventh. She was joined by Kirsty Maher, Cleo Hannafin, Amelie Earnshaw, Mia Brayshaw, Holly Halton, Leah Routledge, Lucy Harrison and Cate Matthew.

Competing in his last Mid Lancs Cross Country as an U11 boy Rhys Ashton secured his first win.

He was joined by Tim Woodman, Jack Newton, Thomas Douthwaite, Jack Collett, Alex Blessington, Archie Honeysett, George Wilby, Scott Freeman, Blake Adams, Zach Earnshaw and Luke Leadbeatter.

Despite having two girls at the inter-counties championships, the U13 girls took first place in the team competition.

First home was Kirsty Hamilton in third and she was backed up by were Eleanor Graham, Sasha Oldham, Lydia Shenton, Holly Satterly, Kayleigh Canning, Tilly Percy and Anna Harrison.

In the corresponding boys’ race Tyler Hannafin, Matthew Bunce, Jack Sloman and Harry Shaw took third in the team event.

Shea Hannam finished second to help the U15 boys’ team, which also included Thomas Knowles and Joseph Twigg, finish second.

Shannon Perry finished fourth in the U17 women’s race.

The ladies A team took second place with Maria Sell, Lauren Gora and Hannah Bateson in action. The B team of Jayne Perry, Deborah Oakley and Gill Hamilton finished 11th.

The men’s team of Mark Leadbeater, Calvin Routledge, James Edwards, John Sear, Paul Tynan, Peter Twigg, Ronald Hummelink, Graham Hodgson, Mike Peat and George Parrington finished eighth.
