Discovering local history at radio roadshow event in Carnforth
BBC Radio Lancashire joined Carnforth retirees when the radio show hit the road to broadcast its '˜Ancestry Day' live from McCarthy and Stone's Keerford View development on Lancaster Road.
Guests and homeowners at the Retirement Living development enjoyed an afternoon learning all about their family history, at an event hosted by Michala Hulme at the Manchester Centre for Public History and Heritage.
BBC Radio Lancashire broadcast the proceedings live from Keerford View, and John ‘Gilly’ Gillmore presented the findings of the ancestry research to the people of Lancashire.
Local people from Leighton Hall and Carnforth Railway Station also joined guests at Keerford View for the afternoon, to talk about their favourite moments in Lancashire’s history.
Michala Hulme said: “I was delighted to be invited to Keerford View in Carnforth for the Ancestry Day, and to speak to homeowners and guests about their history.
“It was an absolute pleasure to be able to chat to homeowners there and reminisce about the good old days, whilst also learning something new.
“I was so inspired by some of their stories; and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to everyone at what is truly a remarkable development.”
Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone commented: “We were thrilled to welcome Michala and BBC Radio Lancashire, as well as so many people from the local area to Keerford View for our unforgettable ancestry day.”
