Players then travel across the wasteland, battling all variety of creatures in one of the most popular series' in recent years.

And makers Bethesda today revealed some details about the next game in the franchise.

Bethesda have released a teaser video ahead of the full announcement of Fallout 76, which gives us some key clues:

The sneak peak gives fans a glimpse inside the fallout shelter and a look at the state-of-the-art graphics they can expect upon release.

Where will it be set?

Vault 76 - which is referenced in Fallout 3 & 4 - seems to be the main setting.

Where that is situated within American remains to be seen, although the inclusion of 'Take Me Home Country Roads' as backing music could provide a hint.

When will we find out more?

The video games industry save all their big announcements for E3.

E3 is an annual gaming convention which usually sees the planet's biggest games revealed.

This year's event takes place in Los Angeles next month - and Fallout 76 is expected to feature heavily.

Bethesda hold their showcase on June 10th at 6:30pm PT (1:30am GMT) where they will unveil more details on the highly-anticipated game.
