The Unbugged team at Lancaster City Council.

The team comprises technicians Ron Haygarth, Mike Tyrrell, Andy Henworth and Lee Illingworth, and the newest addition, assistant technician James Bland. Not forgetting of course, canine team members Lenny the whippet and Freddie the spaniel.

The team are based in Morecambe Town Hall and carry out pest control throughout the north west of England.

This could be dealing with a rat skulking behind a fridge, bedbugs brought into a hotel on the suitcase of an intrepid traveller, or replacing gull eggs with dummy eggs on a factory everything in between! Unbugged also has a large number of annual contracts with businesses large and small.

The idea for Unbugged arose because pest control is not a statutory function for councils, therefore increasing income generation will help to safeguard its future.

Numerous additional services have been introduced including drain camera surveys, flykillers and flyscreens, and bird-proofing.

The technicians are all certificated to work at height and pigeon-proofing solar panels is now a popular request!

The new Unbugged branding is original and exciting and has certainly put the team in the spotlight.

Unbugged also has a really popular Twitter account, where the technicians post photos of interesting jobs they’ve just done. Follow us @lcstr_unbugged
