Here is what you thought of this year’s Morecambe Seaside Festival

Scott Thornton ‏@scottbcfc1977 - Thought it was Brilliant. Just what our town needs. Fab couple of days great to see Morecambe buzzing...#morecambeseasidefestival

Physiofusion Ltd, Lancaster - We saw a fantastic acrobatic display of strength and agility. The guy was up a pole in very windy conditions, but he had showmanship skills aplenty and kept the audience attention well.

Alexander Roe MBE, manager RNLI Hover Shop - What a weekend for Morecambe, a great success. I have never seen so many people in the town and on the sea front. Crowds on the beach, kids in the sea, shops heaving and everyone really enjoying a day by the sea. A great turn out for the spectacular fireworks, the fly pasts were terrific and wooed the crowds. Well done Morecambe.

Jacky Nicholson - Loved the plane displays. I didn’t think they would perform in the windy conditions. Shame weather wasn’t better, Morecambe would have been packed if the sun was out.

Jake Marc Russell- It was a fantastic weekend.

Philip Davies - Had a great time and got some great photos of the fly over.

Helen Waner - Great to see plenty of people out enjoying the entertainment despite the rather cloudy, windy conditions. Wouldn’t be able to use the open spaces on this part of the prom for these events if they were built on!

Andy Whittle - It wasn’t Disney...

Sian Johnson, Morecambe - I loved the air show. I went to the Sea Breeze show in the Winter Gardens, that was terrific. It was very moving, clever, sympathetic and professional although perhaps too nostalgic towards the good old days. If they do part 2 they should look forward to how the theatre could be used in future.
Brian Bromiley, Morecambe – The Best Of Bay Food festival was an embarrassment both for LCC, and for Morecambe. Saturday there were seven stalls, Sunday five stalls. I spoke to several traders on Saturday and Sunday, All were disappointed with the event, and would not support a further event in Morecambe. Many who traded Saturday did not return Sunday.

This is NOT the publicity Morecambe needs!

Brendan Hughes, Morecambe – I felt the seaside ‘festival’ was an absolute embarrassment to the town and LCC as a whole. It was billed on LCC website as a free family day out. I took my family to the event and found it far from a free event. I felt the food element to the event was added on at the last minute to fill the empty space. The whole event seemed poorly organised and certainly did not represent value for taxpayers’ money. The fireworks were spectacular and filled the car parks for just 90 minutes. There was nothing for the visitors to stay for afterwards or come early for before, how was that going to boost the local economy?

Sue Byers, Arndale Centre manager, Morecambe – It had a very positive impact on the Arndale Centre. It definitely improved business for us on both Saturday and Sunday. Also, as a member of Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club, we had our boats out near the slipway and the footfall there was good, we picked up about six or seven new people who are interested in joining the club. It was a positive experience all round.
