Brubeck’s was not the only coffee bar in Morecambe to be seen in.

We went to the Sportsman’s Club, owned by Roly Woodhouse, on Euston Road.

It was above what is the Green Room Cafe today which used to be a Wimpy Bar run by Roly’s sister. The Trap Door on Skipton Street was another popular place.

On the corner of Regent Road was the Caprice. Tom Jones was seen in there having a coffee.

Just past the Battery Hotel was the Adria run by Mr Bullery. Like all the other places it was somewhere to go as teenagers and drink coffee, hot chocolate, hot Vimto, etc, and listen to the jukebox.

Morecambe Bowling Alley opened in the 1960s with 24 lanes of bowling and a coffee bar.

There was also the Central Pier, Floral Hall, Winter Gardens – there was plenty to do in those days. Well, that’s a trip down memory lane, hope you enjoyed it.
