WORK on a new pub-restaurant adjacent to Morecambe FC’s Globe Arena could begin in November, according to Shrimps chairman Peter McGuigan.

Marston’s Inns and Taverns have completed the purchase of just over half the land to the left of Christie Way as you enter the club’s Westgate home and were granted planning permission in May to build a new pub on the site.

Speaking in the Shrimps Scene programme for Tuesday night’s first home game of the season against York, Mr McGuigan also said the club are “actively looking” to sell the other part of the land at the front of their stadium.

“Although it has not yet been confirmed, I think Marston’s will start development on the site at the beginning of November,” he said.

“We are now actively looking to sell the remainder of the land at the front of the Globe which, when completed, will see an incredible transformation at the entrance to the Globe.”
