Jennifer Ward, event manager for Race for Life in the north west, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life events in Lancaster.”

This year, the charity hopes the women who have entered will hit a fundraising target of £50,000.

By raising money through Race for Life, people in the city are helping Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists make advances in research which will help more men, women and children survive.

Jennifer added: “Race for Life is not competitive and it’s not about being fit or fast. You can walk, jog, or run around the course if you like.

“Because these events are all about the feel-good factor that comes from being part of the ‘pink army’ as thousands of women come together to defeat cancer.”
