A woman has been rescued after entering the sea near Morecambe Winter Gardens.
Morecambe’s RNLI Inshore rescue hovercraft launched after a request from the coastguard to recover a woman who had walked into the sea on Sunday July 19.
Holyhead Coastguard tasked the Morecambe RNLI volunteer hovercraft crew to assist local coastguard teams in recovering a woman who had walked into the sea approximately 200 yards north of the Stone Jetty.
The volunteer hovercraft crew quickly located the woman at 8pm and persuaded her to get into the hovercraft; enabling them to transport her to the nearby station.
She was then transferred into the care of a waiting ambulance crew.
After treatment, the casualty was then taken into police custody.
Morecambe RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Kevin Jackson, said: “The lady was in some distress and obviously embarrassed by her actions; but the important thing is she is safe and that is all that matters.”
