Woman rescued off coast at Morecambe

A lifeboat crew was scrambled to rescue a woman at Morecambe.

Morecambe’s RNLI was called out after receiving a report of a woman in difficulty in the Stone Jetty area.

The woman was spotted on the tide side of the jetty and encouragement was given by both HM Coastguard and RNLI crew member Marcus Buchanan to her.

The woman managed to make it into the lifeboat at 10pm on Thursday (June 18) and the crew then transported her safely to shore.

Marcus Buchanan of the RNLI said: “This was a great team effort by the coastguard, police and the RNLI. The female was rescued and taken to the shore. I wish to also

thank the female for following the advice given on making it safely to the boat.”
