POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Morecambe town centre earlier this month.

At around 4.20am on August 7, the 30-year-old victim was walking along Clarence Street after a night out when he was approached by three men. One of them hit him over the head causing the victim to fall to the floor before he was then punched and kicked again around the head and his body.

Unfortunately, the exact details around what happened are still quite unclear and the only description of the offenders is that one of them was wearing a hat.

Luckily, the victim only received minor cuts and bruising as a result of the assault and police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

PC Steve Wood said, “We are still trying to piece together what happened and so I would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and contact police if they saw anything at all suspicious.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 01524 63333 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
