STRONG winds and heavy rain caused havoc on the roads in the Lancaster district on Thursday morning.
Lane one of the M6 southbound was closed between junction 33 and 34 after a lorry overturned at around 7am.
The driver was initially trapped in the vehicle but had managed to free himself when fire crews from Lancaster arrived.
He wasn’t injured and the road was opened shortly after.
A vehicle became stuck under the motorway bridge in Halton Road at around 8am due to heavy flooding.
Diversion signs put in place at the entrance to the road in Halton had blown down, causing one driver to carry on under the bridge and get stuck in high water. The passengers were freed by police and Halton Road is still closed due to heavy flooding.
A stretch of Kellet Lane near Over Kellet was also closed due to a fallen tree, with motorists having to use alternative routes.
North Yorkshire police also issued a warning to drivers to take extreme care following a number of incidents across the county, including HGVs and trees being blown over by the wind.
