A popular Morecambe cafe officially opened at its new premises on Saturday with Mayor of Lancaster Robert Redfern cutting the ribbon (pictured above with staff).

The Welcome cafe, owned by Cath Evans and Elaine Oldfield, was a popular haunt for locals in its former home in the Arndale Centre.

Now The Welcome cafe has opened its doors at the former Victoria pub on Victoria Street and is already welcoming customers old and new.

The official opening took place the same day as a street party on Victoria Street to celebrate the street art installation.

Owner Elaine Oldfield said: “Some of our customers thought we had gone forever. Its absolutely beautiful and we are over the moon that we have reopened.”
