Anyone with a passion for porpoises and a desire to see dolphins is invited to join a National Whale and Dolphin Watch.
Taking place at Heysham Port’s north harbour wall on July 27 and August 10, the Watch aims to spot harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins, which were seen at various places up and down the North West coast last summer.
The Watch will be hosted by Emily Baxter, marine conservation officer for the North West Wildlife Trusts.
She will explain how to tell a dolphin from a porpoise and how to collect watch data.
Please bring binoculars if you have them, and make sure you are wearing appropriate outdoor clothing and appropriate footwear.
The results from the watch will be collated with other watch data from around the country by the marine research and conservation charity, the Sea Watch Foundation, to create a picture of the dolphin and whale species in our seas this summer.
Full details of times and locations are available at www.seawatchfoundation.org.uk
