Warning after thefts of quad bikes and power tools from rural areas
Police are warning residents of rural areas to be on their guard after an increase in the theft of quad bikes, power tools and trailers.
Thieves are stealing Stihl power tools and Iffor Williams trailers from farms and small holdings in the area.
There is no pattern to these crimes, which range from the Cockerham and Pilling area up into the Lune Valley and to the north of Carnforth.
A spokesman for Lune Valley area police said: “Please make it difficult for thieves to take your equipment; remove keys from quads, park them in locked buildings (if possible) and store your tools securely. If you have trailer locks please use them, or immobilize it.
“If you have visits from suspicious characters or vehicles, please take note of registration numbers and if possible a description of the occupants and pass it to the police on 101.”
