Who is the top Northern comic of all time?
Is it Victoria Wood, who died tragically young earlier this year and is said to have based some of her sketches on a cafe in Morecambe?
There are also comedians such as award-winning Peter Kay, whose 2010/11 stand-up comedy tour was officially inaugurated into the Guinness World Records as the most successful of all time, playing to over 1.2 million people; Manchester-born Les Dawson, with his famous deadpan delivery; Ken Dodd, The Man from Knotty Ash armed with a tickling stick famous for 4-hour stage shows; or Wigan-born, ukulele-playing George Formby, who was the highest paid British entertainer in the 1940s.
The Museum of Comedy is holding a public poll to decide, with the results published at the end of The Great Yorkshire Fringe 2016.
