Vintage By the Sea returns to Morecambe

Vintage by the Sea celebrates the brilliance of 20th century design, fashion, vehicles and entertainment with a special focus on the British seaside.

The free, family friendly festival saw more than 40,000 visitors attend last year, with 40 per cent of visitors travelling from outside the area.

Lancaster City Council cite the festival to contribute £950,000 to the local economy.

Morecambe-based practice Deco Publique will co-deliver the festival, along with Lancaster City Council and Hemingway Design’s Vintage Festival team, led by Morecambe-born Wayne Hemingway MBE, Gerardine Hemingway MBE and son Jack Hemingway who launched the Vintage Festival brand in 2010, building it to become an award winning brand with events all around the UK.

Deco Publique are bringing back the best bits and adding new and exciting events to this year’s programme due to be announced throughout the summer.

Wayne Hemingway said: “Vintage by the Sea has become a recognised fixture on the British cultural events calendar with top quality programming and a committed audience who have a first class weekend with family and friends.

“Being born in Morecambe, it means a lot to me and my own family to see the seafront transformed.”

Free live music, DJs playing vintage classics, street food traders, the Routemaster Bus Bar, street performances, free family entertainment and even more vintage workshops all return.

One of the main highlights on Saturday September 3 will be the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which will see a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane pass over Morecambe Bay.
