VIDEO: Magical displays at Light Up Lancaster

Fireworks scattered the skies as thousands gathered for the Light Up Lancaster festival.

The festival lit up in spectacular style during the weekend of November 7 and 8 despite a spell of very wet weather.

Light Up The Streets on Friday saw light and sound installations take place at city landmarks.

The following evening the Light up the Skies event incorporating the annual fireworks spectacular attracted more than 14,000 people.

Coun Ron Sands, Cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “Now in its third year, this year’s combination of events was a phenomenal success and showcased the strength of our heritage and art scene.

“A big thank you must go to Lancaster Arts Partners for the Light Up the Streets element of the festival.

“Their work, in addition to events organised and funded by the Lancaster Business Improvement District, are crucial to the city’s future regeneration.”
