Huge crowds cheered the appointment of the first ever Lady Mayor of Bare.
Susan Bray donned the robe in a ceremony held in hot sunny weather on Saturday.
The new mayor took office at the annual Barefest festival in the village, accepting the role from the outgoing incumbent Cameron Seddon.
The ceremony was held in the Dog and Partridge car park, following a parade down Princes Crescent and Bare Lane.
“Let the Barefest begin!” declared Mrs Bray, which led to an afternoon of festivities in and around the Crescent.
Highlights of the event, organised by Bare Village Business Association (BVBA), included an excellent cheerleading display, performances by Georgia and The Boys and the Morecambe Brass Band, and a tasty hog roast.
Although the Mayor of Bare has no official powers, the role is a figurehead embodying the community spirit of the village.
