UPDATED: Huge demand for Morecambe Britain's Got Talent auditions

Time is running out to apply to audition for Britain's Got Talent in Morecambe.

More than 100 people have already applied to perform at the Winter Gardens this Sunday for a shot at the big time.

Talent scouts are coming to Morecambe for the first time looking for talented people to appear on the hit ITV ‘search for a star’.

Such has been the response, original plans to whittle down the hopefuls in front of a panel of local judges have been scrapped.

Instead Thames TV scouts will watch all of the acts, who will be given two minutes each to perform.

No filming for ITV is scheduled during the day and members of the TV show’s celebrity judging panel will not be in attendance.

Admission is free for people to come along to watch from 3pm.

The event will be hosted by Steve Middlesbrough and DJ Johnny Pep.

Refreshments will be available and the Parisian Bar will be open.

Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) is coming to Morecambe thanks to the success of the town’s carnival.

TV executives contacted David Brayshaw, chairman of Morecambe Carnival Committee, after reading about the event on the internet.

This year’s series of BGT was won by magician Richard Jones and previous winners have included street dance troupe Diversity.

You must pre-register to audition at www.morecambecarnival.org/britainsgottalent .

Applications to audition will close today (Tuesday).

If you turn up on the day without pre-registering you will not be allowed to audition.
