UPDATED: Air ambulance called after serious crash

Four people were taken to hospital after a head-on crash in Morecambe.

A Honda Civic and Mitsubishi L200 Warrior collided on Oxcliffe Road, in Heaton With Oxcliffe, at 7.05am on Saturday.

Two men and a woman from the Honda were taken to hospital, as well as the male driver of the Mitsubishi.

A police spokesman said there were serious injuries but they were not thought to be life-threatening.

One of the casualties was flown to Royal Preston Hospital by the North West Air Ambulance for treatment to suspected serious leg injuries.

Oxcliffe Road was closed after the incident until 11.50am.

Lancashire Constabulary have launched an investigation to find out what happened.
