The Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) will be offering limited surgeries and outpatient appointments for patients today, December 8.
Outpatient clinics at the Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) have been cancelled due to power outage concerns.
At the RLI, all elective surgeries due to take place will be reviewed and priority will be given to those in most need.
If patients are due to have an elective operation on December 8, they should contact the Trust on 01524 583506 to find out whether their operation will be going ahead.
Outpatient services at the RLI will run as normal, with the exception of:
Ear, nose and throat (ENT)
All staff should come to work on Tuesday 8 December as normal.
If staff can’t get to work tomorrow, they should contact their line manager as soon as possible.
If they can’t get to their normal hospital of work but can get to another of the Trust’s hospitals, they should do so and report to the Major Incident rooms so that the teams there can advise where they may be able to help for the day.
A spokesperson from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, said, “Whilst the recent storm has caused major disruption to Lancashire and Cumbria, the hospitals within UHMBT are coping as well as can be expected.
“We would like to take this opportunity remind patients to only use the hospital’s Emergency Departments in the event of an emergency so that our staff can continue to focus on those seriously ill patients that need urgent attention.
“For patients that do use the hospital services, please can you remember to bring any prescription medication with you.
For those patients who receive home care services involving medication that must be refrigerated, and have been affected by the power cut, please call your Home Care Provider helpline number.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support.”
