This is when the riverside path between Lancaster and Halton will re-open

Work on a new £12.1m flood wall along the River Lune was completed in December, but some construction and landscaping works have continued into 2021.

Work to reinstate and resurface the shared path is ongoing, and the section between The Holiday Inn in Caton Road and Skerton Bridge is due to re-open at the end of March.

The project started in January 2020, and the 2,300m flood wall was mostly completed by Christmas 2020.The riverside path closed in February 2020 to allow the work to go ahead.Other ongoing works include landscaping - including tree planting and fencing - and the re-installation of street lighting.

A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: "Covering the Caton Road and Aldrens Lane area, the new scheme will reduce flood risk to more than 170 homes and businesses at a cost of £12.1 million pounds – substantially increasing protection from the previous defences."
