Tributes paid after motorcyclist dies following crash near Lancaster

The family of a motorcyclist who died following a collision near Lancaster have paid tribute to a "loving son and brother".

The incident occurred at around 6.45am on Friday, February 28, on the B6480 at Wennington, when a man riding a Triumph motorbike collided with a Peugeot Partner Tepee car travelling in the opposite direction.

The man, who has been named as Damian McNamara, 52, from Leeds, suffered serious injuries and sadly died in hospital on March 12.

His family have paid tribute to him, describing him as “a loving son and brother”.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 77-year-old man from Bentham, was not injured.

The road was closed for four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Sgt Helen Parkinson of Lancashire Police said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with Mr McNamara’s family and friends at this sad time.

“Our investigation into the collision is very much continuing and we are asking anyone who saw the incident or has any dashcam footage of it, or of either vehicle in the moments before the collision, to contact us straight away.”
