Lancaster home-made goods pop-up shop returns for Christmas season

Meet the Makers - Lancaster’s only shop dedicated to selling handmade goods - has popped up again for the Christmas season in St Nicholas Arcade.

Their keen followers already know them from the stalls they usually have four times a year outside in the Arcade but the pandemic has put a stop to that this year due to social distancing measures.

Most of the artists have been unable to sell their wares at craft fairs, events and shows as they have all been cancelled.

Martasha Jewellery & Photo Gifts, based in Nether Kellet.

Her range includes bespoke forever frames which incorporate customers own photographs and are then personalised with your own chosen words.

Her brand new product “ Light up your Life” is made with 5mm thick lasered acrylic and wooden LED light bases, there are over a hundred designs to choose from and they can be personalised.

Dizzy Lizzy Glass is the creation of Lancastrian artist Diane, her unique styles include dichroic jewellery pendants, stud and dangly earrings, coasters, dishes, wall hangings and the ever popular “squashed” bottles.

Fine Lines Art, best friends Myra and Jane produce calendars, framed prints, cards and coasters depicting the local amd surrounding areas.

They also create sea glass pictures using glass collected from the Morecambe Bay area.

Angela Gardner is a local textile artist specialising in felt and knitwear, in the shop she has lampshades, gloves, hats, wrist-warmers and also kits so you can knit your own.

Buffycat Designs, Liz, uses her amazing talent to create beautiful framed button tree pictures using a mixture of both vintage and modern buttons.

A new addition now includes light up frames.

The Meet the Makers shop is Covid-safe and opens seven days a week including late night shopping on Thursday evenings.
