Annabel Lumsden (director and financial advisor), and Tarnia Elsworth (director and business manager) set up TP Financial Solutions from their home in Twemlow Parade last year.

The duo provide financial advice in the local area and beyond, and while they say their main focus is Heysham, Morecambe, and Lancaster, they have clients as far away as Essex and on The Wirral.

They run their business from a "cosy home office and meeting which have lovely sea views over the beautiful Morecambe Bay and a homely welcoming atmosphere".

Tarnia said: "With the wonders of modern technology, we can work with anyone in the UK right from the off, and we wanted our business to feel personable and welcoming.

"We like to listen, and we find our friendly, family led approach, allows our clients to feel comfortable enough to relax and open up.

"We are part of the Quilter Financial Planning Network and they offer us excellent products and a great structure to work within for our clients.

Having worked in other financial and corporate companies, that are run in a more traditional way, we knew that was precisely the opposite of what we were trying to achieve with TP.

"Talking about money, planning for the future, and securing investments can be intimidating and worrying for many people, which is why our home office is cosy and comfortable.

"Our clients come into our home and everything is very relaxed and informal."

The duo, who have been in financial services for 16 years between them, say they are "proud Morecambrians" and have used the promenade and coastline in all of their marketing materials.

Tarnia said: "I suppose to summarise we are the furthest thing away from the stiff shirts, briefcases and fluorescent office lighting, people may have expected.

"Just because we are talking about money, doesn’t mean it has got to be boring!"

TP Financial Solutions offers advice on pensions, investments and protection.

Tarnia said: "Clients may have pensions in place but don’t understand them or may be unsure as to whether the pot is large enough for their retirement need.

"Or, they may have no pension provision and want to look at starting one.

"With investments, clients may not know the tax allowances they have available to them, they may have investments through their bank and not fully understand how and why they are

invested in a certain way.

"As with pensions they may not have any investments in place, and they want to explore the options available to them.

"Protection underpins everything else, most people will need some form of business or personal protection and not fully know what they need and why, we can review what they

have in place and recommend a bespoke solution that is right for their specific set of circumstances."

She added: "All of our advice is on a free initial consultation basis, so prospective clients don’t need to worry about cost from the outset, we will happily have as many free initial meetings as is needed for them to understand what they need and why they need it.

"The reason we do this is to build trust, even if we don’t go ahead with any business with a client, we hope that they have trusted and valued our time and advice, and therefore will be advocates for us in the future.

"We want to remain a small local family business, we hope to expand in the future, with an additional adviser, but only if the perfect person with a shared view comes along.

"The aim for the next year is to meet lots more lovely local people, who like our approach, and want to work with us throughout their lives."
