Almost 200 people have died in Morecambe Bay hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust (UHMBT) has seen another eight recorded deaths over recent days, bringing the total number of people that have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 to 199.

Two deaths were recorded on Friday October 16, three on Saturday October 17, and three on Monday October 19, according to Public Health England figures.

The total includes deaths at The Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness.

Last week, Lancashire was placed in Tier 3 - the highest alert level - of the government's Covid-19 restrictions.

Public Health England figures also show that of those people who died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, 21 were aged 0-19, 221 were aged 20 to 39, 2,375 were aged 40 to 59, 11,843 were aged 60-79, ad 16,587 were aged over 80.
