Tyson Fury: I'll be the most charismatic champion since Muhammad Ali

Tyson Fury vowed to be the most charismatic heavyweight champion since Muhammad Ali after dethroning Wladimir Klitschko.

The Morecambe giant shocked the world as he unanimously outpointed the Ukrainian great in Dusseldorf to fulfil a life-long dream on Saturday night.

The new WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world heavyweight champion. said: "He's been a great champion but every good dog has its day.

"That day was tonight for Wladimir Klitschko. Tonight is the start of a new era.

"I'm the new champion and I said I'd be the most charismatic champion since Muhammad Ali and I hope to be that.

"If I can do half as well as Wladimir Klitschko then I'll have done well because that man is a great champion.

"He had 23 title defences but was just unfortunate that he came up against the furious one tonight."

Guided by trainer Peter Fury, the unbeaten 27-year-old boxed a supreme fight, frustrating a below-par Klitschko.

Fury said: "Tonight I showed why I'm the most avoided heavyweight on the planet.

"People can say what they want about me. That I'm clumsy, slow, fat, chinny but tonight I'm the heavyweight champion.

"He landed some good shots on me but not one rocked me.

"I caught him with a left hook in the 11th and wobbled him a little bit, he was hanging on for dear life in that fight all the way through.

"I frustrated him, put my hands down and showboated and showed him things he'd never seen before.

"Nobody has come to Germany in front of 60,000 fans and played with the heavyweight champion of the world like that."

Fury celebrated the victory by serenading wife Paris with Aerosmith's 'I don't want to miss a thing' having earlier found out they were to become parents for the third time.

The new champion was quick to pay tribute to his wife, family and the army of travelling fans post fight.

He said: "There was only my team and my family that believed I could do it.

"The so-called experts said it couldn't be done tonight but I proved them all wrong.

"I had so much support here tonight from the travelling British and Irish fans.

"All the Fury fans came out in force, we invaded Dusseldorf.

"I just want to thank everyone for coming and just want you to keep on supporting me because I'm the new heavyweight champion of the world."
