Tyson Fury banned from driving

Fury, who appeared in court handcuffed to a security officer, received a two-month driving ban and £400 fine.

The 6ft 9in heavyweight boxer had already admitted driving at 90mph on the A75 near Carrutherstown, between Dumfries and Annan, in a letter to the court.

But he failed to turn up for two previous hearings in person and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

John Fury, his father and manager, told the court his son missed the hearing because he had moved house.

His previous address was Osborne Road, Heysham, but his new address was given in court as Marine Drive, Hest Bank.

“I take the blame for his non-appearance,” said Mr Fury.

“There had been a change of address and, as his manager, I am responsible for dealing with matters like that and hadn’t picked up his mail.

“He needs his driving licence because of the amount of travelling he has to do.”

In administering the ban, Justice John Bickett said there were already 11 points on Fury’s licence.

Fury, 26, also admitted failing to comply with a solid white line marking.

As he left the court the boxer said he had been arrested on Friday night and spent the weekend in custody.

He said: “I have now experienced what it’s like for a criminal.”
