Morecambe’s motorbike great is set to be the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary.
TV cameras have been spending some time with Isle of Man TT great John McGuinness and his family at their Bare home ahead of this year’s festival which kicks off on Saturday.
The show, set to be pitched to broadcasters in America, is all part of a new sponsorship deal McGuinness has secured with worldwide data giant EMC and is just the first of a number of projects in the pipeline.
The Morecambe Missile said: “They’ve got all these huge ideas. This fly-on-the-wall thing, it could be difficult because sometimes you don’t want a camera in your face 10 seconds before a race.
“It’ll just be interesting to see where this goes.”
EMC have launched a project where they are bidding to unlock ‘the maths behind the Morecambe Missile’.
Tests in Spain have seen them measure McGuinness’ heart rate amongst other things as the corporation look to feed data back to manufacturers in a bid to make racing and riding safer.
The resort ace, along with wife Rebecca, was recently a guest at the EMC expo in Las Vegas and showed off his bike, backed by the company, to 12,500 delegates at their conference at the Venetian Hotel and Casino.
McGuinness said: “The money they’re giving us is the biggest sponsorship deal I’ve ever had.
“It’s just escalated really. It’s fairytale stuff.
“It’s exciting and a new chapter.”
