AN ORDERLY line of freshly washed clothes flapped gently in the breeze in the back garden of Nicola and Robert Holden’s immaculate bungalow.

Their car was parked neatly on the drive and children played happily on nearby streets.

In the spring sunshine all seemed well in the peaceful village of Torrisholme.

There was nothing to indicate that just a few hours earlier a series of horrific and violent events had unfolded inside the bungalow.

Since the news of Nicola’s murder broke on Friday, shocked friends and work colleagues have been paying tribute to this popular and much loved mum.

Paula Williams, director of Lancastle International at Halton, Nicola’s employer, said: “It is deeply sad and we’re all incredibly shocked.

“She was a very highly skilled and most highly valued member of our team and we shall all miss her deeply. She was lively and vivacious and her departure leaves a big hole.”

Flowers and tributes were left at Mrs Holden’s home on Low Lane at the weekend.
