Town’s council told to behave

A TROUBLESHOOTER has warned Morecambe town councillors about their future conduct.

Stephen Lamley, chair of Lancaster City Council’s independent standards committee, was called in to advise warring politicians to treat each other with more respect.

Mr Lamley spoke to all town councillors following a spate of public rows between rival party members at Morecambe Town Hall meetings during 2011.

His address came after a member of the public accused Morecambe Bay Independent councillors Shirley Burns and Tricia Heath of bullying and being abusive towards ex-MBI councillor Evelyn Archer at a town council meeting on May 31 2011.

A counter-complaint was then lodged by councillors Burns and Heath about Coun Archer’s behaviour at the same meeting.
