Three businesses which have turned heads over the past 12 months have been shortlisted for our Sunshine Business Award sponsored by the Arndale Centre.
The three nominees for the 2015 award, selected by The Visitor editorial team, are Gerry’s Fishing Tackle, The Royal Bar and Lingwood Security.
Gerry’s Fishing Tackle, who were short-listed in 2014 too, have recently expanded their angling supplies business into a brand new 14,000 sq ft premises in the former Alhambra building on Marine Road West.
Run by angling enthusiast Gerry Foote and his family, the firm ships thousands of fishing rods and reels every year to all four corners of the globe.
The Royal Bar on Marine Road Central has already won The Visitor Pub of the Year, voted for by our readers, and the Campaign for Real Ale pub of the year.
The Royal has emerged as one of Morecambe’s best and busiest bars since the O’Hagan family refurbished the pub with a major investment in 2012.
This year Lingwood Security marks its 20th anniversary.
The Heysham-based firm, which supplies security guards for the building of the Heysham to M6 link road, has 160 employees and will be adding another 70 over the next two years due to undertaking new contracts.
The Sunshine Business Award winner will be announced on May 1 at our Sunshine Ball at the Midland hotel.
Nominees are selected either for their contribution to Morecambe’s economy, or achievements, or longevity, or for displaying pride in the local area.
