KYLA Brox has been described as the most authentic UK blues and soul singer of her generation.

And this weekend she is headlining the annual Morecambe BluesWater festival.

Back in Manchester, in 2001, Kyla and her musical and life partner Danny Blomeley formed a duo which developed into the Kyla Brox Band.

They plied their trade in north west pubs and clubs, before a career-making performance at Colne Blues Festival in 2002 sealed Kyla’s reputation as the first lady of the British blues.

Kyla will perform this Saturday night (June 23) at the Platform, from 7.30pm until late. In a late change, support will come from Will Tang. Admission is £10.

The festival starts this Friday (June 22) with music from Uncle Carbunkle, Pigsick Phil, John Bowie and local teenagers Phoenix Down. Tickets are again £10 for this launch event at the Platform.

Free performances from Doc Brown and the Groovecats, Dr. Truth and Courtland Bresner will take place outside the Platform on the Saturday from noon to 5pm (indoors if the weather is bad), with the Alex McKown band, The Hustle and The Section on Sunday between noon and 5pm.
