They left a gaping hole in the side of the Co-Op building in Market Street, after it is understood they attempted to steal a cash machine sometime between 2am and 4am on Thursday April 5.

Lancashire Police have yet to respond to requests for information following the ramraid, and it is unclear as yet whether anything was stolen.

The Co-Op had only just re-opened two weeks ago following a £580,000 refurbishment.
